Description: Finding your eternal soulmate - easy.

Stopping a true-love-hungry evil - not so much…

After breaking a centuries-old romantic curse, Emma Connor is (almost) glad to get back to normal problems. Although...it's not easy dealing with the jealous cliques and gossip that rule her exclusive Upper East Side prep, even for a sixteen-year-old newbie witch. Having the most-wanted boy in school as her eternal soul mate sure helps ease the pain-especially since wealthy, rocker-hot Brendan Salinger is very good at staying irresistibly close....

But something dark and hungry is using Emma and Brendan's deepest fears to reveal damaging secrets and destroy their trust in each other. And Emma's crash course in über-spells may not be enough to keep them safe…or to stop an inhuman force bent on making their unsuspected power its own

After the ending to SPELLBOUND, you wouldn't have thought there would be a second book since everything was wrapped up that it could have been a standalone, but nonetheless I was happy to learn there would be a sequel to this series (a trilogy, maybe?).
When we come back to this story we find ourselves back into these characters lives and the story they are to tell.
It starts off four months later,  Brendan and Emma  have never been happier, except for the times where people start talking about her and what happened with Anthony at the winter formal.

Just when they think they are happy something happens along to change all that. There is an evil dark force that wants to destroy what they want, and  is hunting Emma for something far greater than they could have ever imagined possible.
But someone from the past comes back for payback and to destroy something, or someone near and dear to them.
It's a matter of whether they can stop this person, or whether they'll let them destroy everything they have worked for.

Man this was hard to do spoiler free, as I had to watch the kin of words I use so it wouldn't spoil what happens in the book.
But the relationship between Emma and Brendan gets stronger throughout the book, even though there was certain parts where you just wanted to smack them.
The one thing that was true is that they would do anything for each other, even if it means lying or betraying each other to do it. If they feel it's best to keep one in the dark from something that could harm them...

We also had more of the friendship between Emma and Angelique, which was nice to see, since  Angelique really hasn't had many friends especially ones that are witches.
And you do discover why Angelique kind of doesn't like Brendan. It's something that happened in the past that made her weary of him. But these do also get to know each other a little, and come to an understanding.  It helps that they both love Emma, and so that bonds them in a way.

This was a really good sequel to SPELLBOUND, and I do wonder whether there will be a 3rd book and this will turn into a trilogy... it most likely will, I think.

You will enjoy this book if you like magic, witches and a awesome paranormal romance.

I would like to thank Netgalley and Harlequin Teen for sending me this ARC. This has been in exchange for a honest review.
