Follow Friday #20: PhotoBOMB!

It's time once again for the Feature and Follow Blog Hop hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read The Feature and Follow Blog Hop is an excellent chance to connect with other bloggers and answering questions about our favorite books. Here's this week's question:

ACTIVITY: PHOTOBOMB!!!! Photobomb a picture with your favorite book. Share it of course.

Everyone and their mother should read this series.  Shadowfever happens to be book 5 in the FEVER series by Karen Marie Moning.
It's adult. Urban Fantasy. It's sexy. Mysterious. Full of mythology with characters that will amaze, frustrate and you will love.

It's time once again for the Feature and Follow Blog Hop hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read The Feature and Follow Blog Hop is an excellent chance to connect with other bloggers and answering questions about our favorite books. Here's this week's question:

Q: What is your preferred reading format? Hardcover, eBooks, paperback etc?

My preferred reading choice would be paperback. They are cheap and easy to store. Hardbacks all the time, take up too much room, plus the covers can come off.
Ebooks are my last choice, but they are very convenient for times when you aren't sure you will like a book enough to buy, or if you want to try it out. They are also handy for times your not at home and want to read on the run or on a trip and you don't want to take many books with you. It's also easy to read through ebooks quicker than normal ones.

But nothing can take away from picking up a paperback, smelling the pages, admiring the cover, being able to match books (this is a thing for me).

Q. Have you ever broken up with a series, and if so, which one and why?

Quite a few actually...

First there was Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R Ward, which I felt was becoming worse and I was starting to lose interest as it went along.
House of Night series by P.C & Kristin Cast. From the way they spell vampires and the introduction of certain things, let's not forget the main characters many love interests... I think i got through a couple and then could not do it anymore.
Rachel Morgan series, because she killed off the love interest I didn't feel the need to read any longer. And most recently, Soul Screamers by Rachel Vincent. -- it all started with If I Die, I began to hate the main character, and  I hate, hate what the author did to my ship. Yeah, I did not even read the last two books when I knew the direction it was going.

What about you?

Q: Give us a sneak! What are you reading? Tell us about a fun or fail scene in your current read.

Alright, lets see. I finished The Elite by Kiera Cass recently, as that's the one I can remember a fun, laughable scene.

“What does he mean, he expected enthusiasm from us?” Mom demanded in a low whisper. “Is this because you yelled at him when you met? You haven’t been doing that again, have you?”
I sighed. “Actually, Mom, we argue pretty regularly.”
“What?” She gaped at me. “Well, stop it!”
“Oh, and I kneed him in the groin once.”
There was a split second of silence before May barked a laugh. She covered her mouth and tried to stop, but it kept coming out in awkward, squeaky sounds. Dad’s lips were pressed together, but I could tell he was on the verge of losing it himself.
Mom was paler than snow.
“America, tell me you’re joking. Tell me you didn’t assault the prince.”
I didn’t know why, but the word assault pushed us all over the edge; and May, Dad, and I bent over laughing as Mom stared at us.
“Sorry, Mom,” I managed.

I cracked up laughing. Her poor mother, but I loved her relationship  with Maxon is unlike anything else she has experienced. She doesn't  treat him like the other girls do, and he finds her a challenge because well, she doesn't treat him like anyone else. lol

Q: If you could hang out with any author (living) who would it be and what would you want to do?

This would be an easy one. My favourite author, Karen Marie Moning. If I lived in the US, of course, or if she was over here in Australia (Fat chance that ever happening. lol) We can go driving in her new bloody amazing car, a black lamborghini.

We'd talk about her books ALL day of course!

Q: We are about to see a lot of posts & tweets about reader conventions, RT, BEA, ALA and many more are starting soon. Which one would you love to attend? Where and why?

Since I live in Australia I don't have the option or luxury to go to any of these, but boy wish I did. I need to schedule a trip to the US around one of these events just so that I can experience it even just once.
If I had a choice I would probably choose BEA as it seems to be the most popular and biggest one around. I just think it would be quite the experience to see not just other bloggers, but authors as well. We don't have these sort of conventions in Australia, and so it's be one of my dream things to do one of these days.

Happy Friday.

It's time once again for the Feature and Follow Blog Hop hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read The Feature and Follow Blog Hop is an excellent chance to connect with other bloggers and answering questions about our favorite books. Here's this week's question:

Q: Have you ever read a book that you thought you would hate -- ? Did you end up hating it? Did you end up loving it? Or would you never do that?

The one that comes to mind was Cinder by Marissa Meyer. For like almost a year I put off buying and reading this book because by the synopsis it just didn't interest me. I think it was for a few reasons. While I love fairytales, but Cinderella as a cyborg? At first I was getting it confused with a cyclops. Don't ask why, they are similar in writing and I was trying to wrap my head around the fact and it put me off.
I then discovered what a Cyborg was and I was still hesitant, but after giving up I decided to go for it after seeing many fantastic reviews for this book. My verdict by the end of the book? I could slap myself for being so stupid and not reading it earlier. I loved it. Just goes to show that sometimes what appears on the outside with your own perceptions doesn't always necessary mean it's what you get on the inside of the book.

If you feel we have things in common, follow Us. We follow back :)

Follow Friday #13

Welcome, it's Friday again, and you know what that means.  A time where you follow other blogs and get to know the bloggers.

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

Q: Happy Mardi Gras! If they were throwing books off a Mardi Gras float, what would you do to get them?

Oh man. Books. That's like saying.. chocolate, come get it.  I probably would scream, do something to get their attention. Wear something that would stand out, or something crazy. Maybe something like "Books are my drug. Fill me up."  Hah.

Q:  What is the last book that kept you up late into the night just to finish it?

Humans and androids crowd the raucous streets of New Beijing. A deadly plague ravages the population. From space, a ruthless lunar people watch, waiting to make their move. No one knows that Earth’s fate hinges on one girl. . . .

Cinder, a gifted mechanic, is a cyborg. She’s a second-class citizen with a mysterious past, reviled by her stepmother and blamed for her stepsister’s illness. But when her life becomes intertwined with the handsome Prince Kai’s, she suddenly finds herself at the center of an intergalactic struggle, and a forbidden attraction. Caught between duty and freedom, loyalty and betrayal, she must uncover secrets about her past in order to protect her world’s future.

' I read this recently, and loved it to the point that I could not put it down. The more I got into the book, especially as things got revealed, I knew I needed to finish it. And especially with the ending it gave us, I need to get Scarlett ASAP. I did see it in the stores, I just need to get it in a few days.

Follow Friday #11

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.

Q: What book do you think everyone should read? If you could gift the entire population with one book?

Oh, this will come to no surprise to some, but no doubt, the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning. Like seriously, these books changed my life. Literally. Figurately, emotionally, physically and in every way possible.
It's not YA, so if you only read that, then I guess it wouldn't be for you. But if you are in the mood for something different, to see a different kind of world... then this would be it.
I would, if I could.. buy a book for every single person in the world to show them, to broaden their minds into a place not so unlike ours, but a little different that will change your perspective of certain things forever.

What about you? Which book would you gift every person in the world if possible?

Follow Friday #10

It's been a while since I have done one of these since I just spent the last two months overseas. I'm looking forward to meeting new people once again.

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.

Q: Activity! Who is your to-die-for book crush? What do you think they look like? Add an image to make us all happy.

Three words.

Jericho. Z. Barrons from The FEVER series by Karen Marie Moning

There is nobody else that compares to this guy. He is everything you could ever want in a crush. Hotness to the max. Sexual. But once you get to know him, he'll become your whole world.
Just ask Mac. She can tell you first hand experience.

Photos? I have two, one is of the first guy whom I saw Barrons of, and in some ways I still do. And the second, I feel is my current Barrons.

Follow Friday #9

Hi everyone..Happy Friday! I hope everyone has had a great week.
Follow and Feature Friday is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.

Q: What hyped up book do you think was worth all the talk?

The Hunger Games. But then again, I read those books before they became popular, before they were made into a movie. Sure, the rights had been picked up, but not that many people knew about the series.

Some memorable mentions also include; Everneath, The Immortal Rules and Unravelling. I'm sure there are more that I could mention, but I don't want to write an esssay :P

Tell me yours.

Follow Friday #8

Hi everyone..Happy Friday!
Follow and Feature Friday is hosted by Alison Can Read and Parajunkee.

It's been so long since I have done one of these. Probably months and I am ashamed I have been so lazy, or busy, since I have been planning my (Jen) trip to the US. But now I have some free time, I thought I would get back into the swing of things.

Anyway, this week's question is....

Q: What hyped up book do you think was not worth all the talk?

I'm going to choose two things that spring to mind right now..
First one is the obvious one...' Fifty Shades of Grey'. Probably one of the most hyped up books all year, and of course I was curious and wanted to check it out for myself.  That's how you will only know if you like something or not. And I didn't. I guess it wasn't for me. I understood the fascination and why some might like it, but IMO it was too hyped up for my taste, and didn't deliver.

Another one is actually a sequel. 'Fever' by Lauren DeStefano. This book I felt was quite hyped up to be a great sequel to 'Wither', and I was looking forward to it. But it kind of let me down, apart from the end. It wasn't what I was expecting and I was disappointed it wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Speak out  in the comments..

Follow Friday #7

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read where you meet and follow different bloggers.
Question of the Week: You are a matchmaker — your goal, hook up two characters from two of your favorite books. Who would it be? How do you think it would go?
Lets see... if you forget about the ages and their respective loved ones, I would probably take Rose from Vampire Academy and Jericho Barrons from Fever. Sure, she may be 18 and he is.. well, a lot older, LOL and if there was no Mac or Dimitri, I think Rose would be perfect to hook up for him. She is kickass and takes care of herself. And Barrons likes confidence and a natural ability to be strong.
Plus they would make a great duo fighting against monsters and vampires.

Follow Friday #6

Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee's View and Alison Can Read, which is basically a way to follow blogs and make new friends.
It's pretty easy. Head over to the hosts page, check out some blogs and follow. Make sure you let them know you are following otherwise they won't know.

For this week's question:Summer Break is upon us! What would be the perfect vacation spot for you to catch up on your reading and relax?

Hm.. summer? *looks outside* looks like Autumn to me, LOL Yeah.. the fact I am on the opposite side of the world might have something to do with it.
But in this case..I think somewhere quiet and peaceful. Maybe somewhere with a beach? My family and I used to go camping down by the border of this state and the next which was isolated and nice and peaceful. I think that would be a nice spot to get some relaxing and catching up on some reading, although I haven't been there since I was young.
Other than that...maybe down to Queensland where its nice and warm most of the time, and I think if you are anywhere on vacation you should be able to relax no matter what you are in the world.

Follow Friday #3

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Its a way to get out there and meet new bloggers and discover new blogs. :)

Q. What is one thing you wish you could tell your favorite author?
I would tell Karen Marie Moning (who I plan on meeting in October), how amazing I think her writing is and that her books have changed my life, made me want to be a better writer with the way she writes her stories, characters and the world she creates.

Follow Friday {04}

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. Its a way to get out there and meet new bloggers and discover new blogs. :)
Q. What is one book that you would be nervous to see a movie adaptation of because you think the movie could never live up to the book?

Oh, that's a hard question since many of my favourite books are being adapted into movies, but I would  "The Fever" series by Karen Marie Moning as its been purchased by Dreamworks, and while I trust that Karen wouldn't have sold them the rights if she wasn't positive they would do right by the series, I just feel that something as amazing as this series it would be hard to stay true to the whole mythology and story.
I will give them the benefit of the doubt and wait until things move forward and then see what happens, but I can't lie and say it doesn't make me a little bit nervous since they wouldn't be able to fit everything that's in each book into a movie.

Q: Have you ever bought a book BECAUSE of a bad review?

I have.. because I believe that just because other people don't like a book doesn't mean you won't.
Everyone has a different opinion and perspective, different likes and dislikes that you can't automatically assume YOU will hate the book.
I would respect a bad review and take it into account, but then I would then decide on my own personal perspective whether or not the book would be for me.

What about you?

This week's question is: Do you read one book at a time or do you switch back and forth between two or more?

I try not to. It  can become confusing sometimes, but I do admit that I at times, try to read one normal book, and one book on my kindle for times. Doesn't always work out that easy.
Most of the time I just feel that by switching constantly you lose focus of the story which you are reading about and might have to go back and re-read parts which you don't remember.

Follow Friday {01}

Feature and Follow Friday is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

This Week's Question: What's the best and worst book you've read in the last month?

This month.. I would have to say..

I have been a fan of this series since the beginning, and felt Balthazar's book was maybe better than the rest of the series. I was so happy to see him get his happy ending.
And now, on Sunday I can get the rest of my books signed at Claudia's book signing.. It will be the 2nd time I would have met her, as she came and toured a few years ago.

And as for the worst, well, I wouldn't say it was bad.. but just wasn't what I was expecting..

This was..I liked, but would have preferred if I liked it more. I am still going to read book 2, and hope it is better. But I think there was a little too much mythology in the book.. if that makes sense.
