Welcome to the 1st edition of 'From Words to Screen', a original book to TV or Movie adaption feature. We'll talk about the newest news in relation to upcoming book adaptions, whether its for television or for the big screen.
Television adaption news:
- FOX has given a pilot order for Delirium, a dystopian book trilogy by Lauren Oliver and also Sleepy Hollow
- the CW has given a new pilot order to The Selection, which is a novel by Kiera Cass, and also The Hundred.
- Witches of East End has been given a series order of 10 episodes. It's a supernatural, female orientated series by Melissa de la Cruz. It stars Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Julia Ormond and Rachel Boston. It'll air later this year.
Movie adaption news:
- Vampire Academy has been moving along with today's news that Zoey Deutch to star as Rose Hathaway, Lucy Fry as Lissa Dragomir and Danila Kozlovski as Dimitri Belikov. Filming scheduled for summer. Mark Waters has been hired to direct, while his brother Daniel Waters to pen the script.
There will be a change in the title. They felt to separate itself from Twilight, they wanted to add something else to the title. After some discussion with Richelle Mead, it will be Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters (each movie will then adapt with the following book titles.. kind of like The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Mocking Jay etc)
What are your thoughts? If you have any other book related adaption news, please leave us a comment.
Vampire Academy could be so cool! I hope they do well with it or I'm kicking somebody! I also have to read Delirium before it's a movie >.<
ReplyDeleteYou haven't read Delirium yet? There are some changes people are concerned about, but I guess when it comes to television, many things tend to be different.. especially when there are only 3 books. Concessions have to be made.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Vampire Academy can be so good. I like the casting so far.
