"History is on repeat, and things didn't go so well the last time. "

Alexandria isn't sure she's going to make it to her eighteenth birthday--to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she's a goner... and so is Aiden.

If that's not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time "training"--which really is just Seth's code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time--she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she's caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed... and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate...
The third book in this amazing series only just gets better as it goes along. Alex's 18th birthday is coming up and we know what that means: Her awakening, and that is something I am not sure she is ready for.

This book solidfied the two core relationships I felt. Alex and Aiden and Alex and Seth. One for the better and one for the worse. You probably can guess which is which. But these things happen.
The relationship between Alex and  Aiden I have loved, shipped, supported from the very first book, but they have had their ups and downs considering the reality of their situation. In this book things become very real and they are forced to make a very bold choice. Do they follow their hearts, or do they follow the rules, which shouldn't be put there to begin with?

There are all sorts of twists and turns that transpire in this book. From who Leon really is, the truth about Alex's father and what that could mean for her and what happens the closer she gets to her awakening. What does that mean for her and Seth, and her in general?
There are of course some betrayals that you might not see coming, and end up being quite heartbreaking.

All in all, this book goes down a new path that sets the series on its own and makes anything that comes next bigger and badder than you ever thought possible.

And then we are stuck with dreaded cliffhanger, and it is such a biggie. To also bridge the gap between this book and the next we are then treated to a special novella narrated by Aiden about the events that transpire after the ending to Deity. Be a watchout for that review.

Verdict: 5/5

Will love conquer all?

Nora and Patch thought their troubles were behind them. Hank is gone and they should be able to put his ugly vendetta to rest. But in Hank's absence, Nora has become the unwitting head of the Nephilim and must finish what Hank began. Which ultimately means destroying the fallen angels - destroying Patch.

Nora will never let that happen, so she and Patch make a plan: lead everyone to believe they have broken up, and work the system from the inside. Nora will convince the Nephilim that they are making a mistake in fighting the fallen angels, and Patch will find out everything he can from the opposing side. They will end this war before it can even begin.

But the best-laid plans often go awry. Nora is put through the paces in her new role and finds herself drawn to an addictive power she never anticipated.

As the battle lines are drawn, Nora and Patch must confront the differences that have always been between them and either choose to ignore them or let them destroy the love they have always fought for.
The conclusion to this thrilling saga ends with a bang, and with a satisfactory ending to which fans will enjoy.

Nora seems to be reborn in this book. She takes a mature approach and tries to become a leader, someone her new followers can look up to. But this is a task that won't be easy, even if she has help from Dante, who is teaching her to be who she should be.

A war is coming and everyone is preparing for what could be an end, one way or another. The lines are drawn, but Nora refuses to pick a side, even if she is leading the Nephilim. She is on their side because she feels it's what is right, given she is now one of them.. but then, her boyfriend is fallen, so she isn't exactly objective. She has to decide whether to follow her head, or her heart. To do what is right, or what she thinks she should do.

A big battle is upon them, and not everyone will make it out alive. The question is...will this big fight solve anything? What will be the outcome? Who will win? And if you win, will you also lose in some aspect?

There are new enemies, no allys and unexpected surprises that enfold them all as they go one step closer to freedom. Will Nora be able to deliver what she promised Hank she would do? Because if she doesn't... given the oath she tool, her and her mother's lives could be on the line, and that is one thing she cannot risk.

This was a great  finale (no pun intended), with getting everything we wished. Answers, sometimes questions still hanging in the air, but mostly I felt I was happy with the outcome. Even if the battle lost some lives, some missed, and some not. But lost nonetheless.
Sad to see this series end, but I was satisfied especially in terms of Patch and Nora's happy ending. They sure deserved one, that is for sure after all they had been through to be together.

Looking forward to what Becca does next.

WHEN SILENCE IS ALL THAT'S LEFT, CAN THE TRUTH FINALLY BE HEARD?

Nora Grey can't remember the past five months of her life. After the initial shock of waking up in a cemetery and being told that she has been missing for weeks - with no one knowing where she was or who she was with - she tried to get her life back on track. Go to school, hang out with her best friend, Vee, and dodge mom's creepy new boyfriend.

But there is this voice in the back of her head, an idea that she can almost reach out and touch. Visions of angel wings and unearthly creatures that have nothing to do with the life she knows.

And this unshakable feeling that a part of her is missing.

Then Nora crosses paths with a sexy stranger, whom she feels a mesmerizing connection to. He seems to hold all the answers...and her heart. Every minute she spends with him grows more and more intense until she realizes she could be falling in love. Again.
The end of Crescendo, we were left with one major cliffhanger to speculate on what would happen next.
I pondered many things, but what happened, and what we were dealt with didn't come into it. I never expected that Nora would wake up with her memories swiped, for her to have no idea what happened for a few months... who Patch was, or who her father really was, and capable of.
I would think this might be one of my fav books in the series because of everything that happened. That Nora had to remember her love for Patch, and had to find out what happened to her and why.

I can't imagine what she was feeling, or how she even made it through everything she went through. From the time she was kidnapped, to the time she was let go, and  couldn't remember a thing. All I know is that I wouldn't wish for this on anyone. It would be such a horrible thing to go through, and one that could change you forever.

Patch too finds himself in quite the situation, after he makes a deal with the devil to save Nora, and not without a price. He finds himself battling many things at once, not to mention trying to get himself to stay away from Nora, for her own good, but sometimes things don't end up the way you try to make them be. It seems whatever is pulling these two together was for a reason and no matter how much he may try, nothing will be able to stop them from reconnecting if that is what is meant to happen.

There is also a big war coming on the horizon, between the fallen angels and the nephilim, and blood will be shed. It's only a matter of time before it happens.

I loved that Becca was able to up the stakes in this story, change things around not to make things boring or predictible. I had a feeling something big was coming, but it doesn't happen in this book, which I imagine why this series was given an extra book to tie up loose ends.

But the cliffhanger? Yeah, Nora is changed all right. She'll soon have to pick a side, and fast, because if she doesn't.. she, and Patch could soon end up dead if she isn't careful.
One of my favourite things in this book was Nora's friendship with Scott, who turned out to be a good friend, probably better than she had expected.

The end is coming... are you ready?

Verdict: 5/5

Nora Grey's life is still far from perfect. Surviving an attempt on her life wasn't pleasant, but at least she got a guardian angel out of it. A mysterious, magnetic, gorgeous guardian angel. But despite his role in her life, Patch has been acting anything but angelic. He's more elusive than ever (if that's possible) and what's worse, he seems to be spending time with Nora's archenemy, Marcie Millar.

Nora would have hardly noticed Scott Parnell, an old family friend who has moved back to town, if Patch hadn't been acting so distant. Even with Scott's totally infuriating attitude, Nora finds herself drawn to him - despite her lingering feelings that he is hiding something.

If that weren't enough, Nora is haunted by images of her murdered father, and comes to question whether her Nephilim bloodline has anything to do with his death. Desperate to figure out what happened, she puts herself in increasingly dangerous situations to get the answer. But maybe some things are better left buried, because the truth could destroy everything - and everyone - she trusts.
After everything that Nora went through in the previous book and came out on top with the guy she loved, she didn't think things could get any worse.
But you know what they say?...Don't count your chickens before they hatch.
Yes, Nora and Patch are blissfully happy.. that is until Patch sudden is off doing something for Marcie, hanging around her more than Nora would like,  and that causes a rift between the new lovers.

Nora and Patch's relationship is tested with more than just Marcie. Patch's long-time friend, Rixon arrives in town and Vee soon finds herself smitten with the new guy. But this girl, seems to find trouble wherever she goes. Not everyone is as they seem  especially when the truth comes to light as to why he is in town and his purpose. Everything has consequences, even if you don't understand why, or see the whole picture.

There are quite a few surprises in this book. Ones you probably saw coming, and some you don't. The truth about Nora's parentage starts to come to light, and everyone she knows and loves might end up in deep trouble just by association.
Nora starts to dig into how exactly her father was killed, and why.
There are some new characters, and not all of them are evil. Take Scott for example; he is someone from Nora's past, but he is also there to help her as he has more ties to her past than she might realize, and even she soon discovers a secret about him that even he didn't even know about.

Though Nora did annoy me with how crazy she was in regards to Patch and Marcie, I guess she does have her reasons, I did love this book, and it was a great sequel.

Verdict: 4.5/5

A SACRED OATH
A FALLEN ANGEL
A FORBIDDEN LOVE

Romance was not part of Nora Grey's plan. She's never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how hard her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch comes along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Patch draws Nora to him against her better judgment.

But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora's not sure whom to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is and seems to know more about her than her closest friends. She can't decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel.

For she is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost Nora her life
In Becca Fitzpatrick's Debut novel, introduces to a love, supernatural story that will excite you to the very core.

Meet Nora Grey. Good student, haunted by the death of her father,  but unlucky in love, until new guy, Patch walks through the door she never met someone who she felt she could fall in love with.
Nora has been through a lot recently. Her mom is trying to keep the two of them afloat, but that means she has to travel more than normal.

When Nora finds herself in the middle if a battle of supernatural influences, she will start to wonder why she got involved in the first place.
This is a novel is good, evil and falling in love with the person you least expect.

I really loved this book. To have an angel go from hating to falling in love with you is not something you find often. If I was in Nora's shoes, I might have run for the hills in the beginning.
When new students turn up in town, Nora and her best friend Vee find themselves head to head with them, but what they don't see is that they might not have good intentions as they would have liked to believe.

I loved reading about Patch and Nora's relationship, as they spent time together and gradually found themselves falling in love. There was definitely a lot of swoon worthy moments. During my re-read of this book, it made me remember how much I adored them, and loved Patch. Originally I thought Vee was annoying, but I found myself understanding where she was coming from.

Twenty years after the terror of First Dawn—when mankind learned that vampires lived secretly among them—the threat of violence reigns as the two species struggle to coexist. The only group preserving the fragile harmony is the Order, an elite cadre of Breed warriors dedicated to protecting humans and vampires alike. And in this precarious world of torn loyalties and shattered trust, Mira, a fiery squad captain, finds that every fight bears an intensely personal cost.

Raised among the Order, Mira has always believed in the warrior’s code of swift—and even lethal—justice. But the one thing she desires more than the Order’s hard-won acceptance is Kellan Archer, a sexy but troubled Breed fighter. In love with him since childhood, Mira once broke through his tough exterior during an unexpected night of rapture, but the next day he mysteriously disappeared, never to return.

Kellan didn’t think he would ever see Mira again—or have to confront the truth of why he left. After abandoning the Order years ago, he now leads a band of human rebels intent on carrying out their own vigilante rule of law. Yet a high-profile kidnapping assignment brings him face-to-face with the past he sought to avoid, and the striking woman he has tried desperately to forget. And as tensions mount and the risk of bloodshed grows, Kellan and Mira must take sides—between the competing missions that dominate their lives, and the electrifying passion that claims their hearts
First off, I would like to thank Delacorte Press and Netgalley for giving me this opportunity to review this book for an honest review.

I was so happy when I discovered that Lara was continuing this series, although I wasn't sure how things would go as she was skipping twenty years from the last novel. It sure was a gutsy move, but I can say for sure that it paid off.
Not only do we see our old and favourite characters, but we also get introduced to a new generation of breed and breedmates. I am excited to see where things will go from here.

Many of us originally had wondered who would be Mira's love interest for this book, because all we knew  all year was that she was getting her own story, usually we discover the male first. I hoped upon hope that it would be who I felt it should be. I had hoped that I wasn't seeing things and there was foreshadowing in 'Darker Midnight' between these two characters.
When Lara answered that very important question and we found out that her love interest would be none other than Kellan, I could not have been any more happier than I was. I was glad my instincts were correct, and I could not wait to dig into their story.

I absolutely loved the history that Lara brought to this new generation. She has added our old favorites with a little extra, as they deal with the fallout of Lucan's announcement twenty years prior that changed everything, and for breed and humans alike.
We soon learn that Mira, while in charge of her own team within the order, is still haunted from a personal loss that she carries with her every day. Someone close to her that is now lost to her forever that has changed her, and she'll do anything possible to get those responsible for the tragedy.
She might have her friends and family around her, but there would always be a hole inside her heart that can't be repaired, as to her, something will always be missing.

Kellan has never had the greatest childhood, but his friendship, and relationship with Mira was something that change him for the better. If it wasn't for her, he probably wouldn't have survived as long as he did. The tragedy that took so much away from him has taken it's toll on the child boy when as a child. But years later, Kellan will be forced to do something drastic in hope to change for something happening.
After he left nine years prior, Kellan never thought he would see Mira again, but as the fates would have it, that would not the plan. Their paths soon cross and you begin to understand the hurt stuck between them, the longing, and the love still constant when they are both in the same room together.
Is it possible for two people who have been there for one another through so much be able to repair the damage that occurred years earlier? Can something be repaired when it felt like it was very much broken in pieces?

There are no words to describe how much I loved this book. Not only for Mira and Kellan. But for Nathan, their childhood friend, who I suspected is book is next on the agenda. (Crave the Night, is what its called), and also for the new generation of breed that we have come to know and adore during the course of this story. The kids are grown up and are coming into their own as individuals and warriors, and I am sure they will make their parents proud at who they are becoming.

We also get into the thoughts of come of our favourites, such as Lucan, who is as big of a presence was he was during the last ten books of this series. I look forward to seeing what the others have been up to.

If this is what we have to look forward to from this point on, then I say BRING IT ON!

Verdict: 5/5

It’s been six weeks since angels of the apocalypse descended to demolish the modern world. Street gangs rule the day while fear and superstition rule the night. When warrior angels fly away with a helpless little girl, her seventeen-year-old sister Penryn will do anything to get her back.

Anything, including making a deal with an enemy angel.

Raffe is a warrior who lies broken and wingless on the street. After eons of fighting his own battles, he finds himself being rescued from a desperate situation by a half-starved teenage girl.

Traveling through a dark and twisted Northern California, they have only each other to rely on for survival. Together, they journey toward the angels’ stronghold in San Francisco where she’ll risk everything to rescue her sister and he’ll put himself at the mercy of his greatest enemies for the chance to be made whole again.
This story begins with the flow of a feather ruffling through the air. The start of something new. Something different. Something... unexpected.
The world has changed after the takeover of angels. They have demolished everything in sight. Responsible for every horrible thing that happened, and that is the way they liked it.

Six weeks later, seventeen, Penryn, her mother and little sister attempt to run after they stumble upon a confrontation between angels, one of the angels do the impossible... swoop in and take off her with little sister. First comes shock, then anger and determination to find and get her back.

She soon finds an unexpected ally, in the form of Raffe. He is an angel who she finds wingless out in the street after a lost battle, and Penryn decides she can't just let him die like that and takes him under her wing, so to speak, and help him heal up in hope that he might have information on where the others had taken her sister.
Joining forces with the enemy was not something Penryn liked, nor was it easy, but if it was the only way to discover what they did with her sister, well... then she would do what it takes.

It's not often that a book like this surprises me. It caught my attention right away. The world building, the characters and the writing. The author managed to hook me in to the point where I never wanted the story to end. The love that Penryn had for her family was admirable. It's something I think we all can relate to... doing whatever it takes for family, and love.
And then there was the relationship she had with the enemy, Raffe. It was one of the main drawing points for me in this book. I was hooked on their every move, and even though they basically hated one another, I wanted something to happen between them. I wanted them to see they weren't just using one another.
I was happy with the progression of their relationship as they moved throughout the book. I look forward to see where things lead in book 2, when that may come out.

The world, the fact that angels have taken over the world was an interesting concept. It's not something you see much... probably because when you think of Angels, they are meant to be good. They are meant to protect humans, and not ruin everything there was to earth and to humans. Like I said, interesting concept.

Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.
Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.
Even if it means making war against the gods.

I'll be honest. I skimmed and skipped sections in this short story. Maybe because it was in Aiden's POV, and I'm not his biggest fan. The story is set a few days after the end of Deity. Alex has Awakened, and she's not the same anymore. Seth has connected with her and any trace of her former self is gone.

Apollo has come up with a solution to temporary break the connection to Seth. They can give Alex an Elixir similiar to the ones that the half servants are given, but this one will work on Alex with being the Apollyon. At first everyone refuses. Being on the Elixir is one of Alex's biggest fears. But soon they realized that the only way for her to survive while they search for a permanent way to break the connection is for her to be on the Elixir.

What I don't understand is why did it have to be Aiden to give her the potion and be her "master". It didn't set well with me. I do wish we saw more of the other characters. I loved seeing Apollo's brother. I'm assuming that this novella will make the fourth book make more sense. But you will probably only enjoy it if you love Aiden.

In the end, Aiden realizes that love is bigger than fate. And Alex is the only one who can break the connection. And the war against the gods may have just begun...

With each book the series seems to be it own and not a copy of Vampire Academy. This book still had similarities with VA, but it doesn't seem to be an out right copy like the first book. Which I couldn't be anymore happier about, since I don't think I could continue with the series if every book was like the first one.

There were a few surprises or not so surprises in the book. The first one was Alex's father is still alive. Not only that, he's a half blood. Her father still being alive I saw coming in the last book. Very easy to spot. And I guess if you figured out that part you probably figured out he's a half blood and not a mortal. Which I guess I overlooked that part or just didn't think about it. Alex reaction about it? Very annoying. I just wanted to slap her. I understand her wanting to go find him and free him. But knowing that one wrong step and she's looking at a life in servitude. Yet she still rushes to do stupid things. When she finally sends back a letter for him, she tells him I love you. Now this I have issues with that. I know you love your parents, but she doesn't know her dad or anything about him. Even though he is her dad the I love you seems too sudden. Like me, if anyone suspected that there's more to Leon, you're right. We finally get to see who he really is.

And then there's Seth. There wasn't enough of him in this book. And what there was...well *bawls*. I knew Seth would break my heart. But I still have hope for him. I don't think he really has control of his mind. Come back to us cuddle bunny! I think he really does love Alex, but even so this book has killed my shipping of them two. Which would make you think I would jump on the Aiden ship. Nope. Not a chance. Which has completely stumped me. Aiden and Alex were pretty swoon worthy this book. But there's just something about him that I don't like. I know that they are perfect for each other and have this pure love, and that she will end up with him. They both know they should and need to stay away from each other, but they can't. Doesn't help that Aiden is one of her "babysiters". But knowing that one wrong move or if the wrong person sees them it's the end of Alex's life. I really think that's selfish of Aiden, no matter how deeply he loves her.

Some of the gods finally make an appearance in the book. You'll see Apollo a lot, and trust me you will love him. I think he has earned the number one spot on my favorites in this series.

Overall, I really love the plot. And certain things started to make sense. And we learn which family member really does care about Alex. I'm hoping that Seth can find his way back.

The New York Times bestselling Kate Daniels novels have been hailed as “top-notch urban fantasy” (Monsters and Critics). Now, Ilona Andrews delves deeper into Kate’s world, and reveals its untold stories…
After being kicked out of the Order of the Knights of Merciful Aid, Andrea’s whole existence is in shambles. She tries to put herself back together by working for Cutting Edge, a small investigative firm owned by her best friend. When several shapeshifters working for Raphael Medrano—the male alpha of the Clan Bouda, and Andrea’s former lover—die unexpectedly at a dig site, Andrea is assigned to investigate. Now she must work with Raphael as her search for the killer leads into the secret underbelly of supernatural Atlanta. And dealing with her feelings for him might have to take a back seat to saving the world…

AMAZING! I can't believe I've put this book off for so long. I almost love it more than Kate Daniels books. Seeing as it's set in the same world with pretty much the same characters, there is nothing wrong with this book. If you haven't read Magic Gifts and were planning on it, you should read it first. Especially since it's a special feature in the book. And that the short story and this story takes place about the same time.

Andrea has had a tough life. Trying to keep the fact that she's a shiftshapers is hard work. But after the Order found out they kicked her out.  Not to mention the breakup with Raphael. But when she gets assigned a case where she will be working close with Raphael, she may just have to face her feelings sooner than she thought.

I know that everyone was sold on an Andrea series, but I found her to be amazing. And love seeing more of some of the characters that we haven't before. I've fallen completely in love with Roman and I adore Ascanio. I'm hoping we will see more of them two in the future.

Some of my favorite quotes:

“Did those nice church ladies come by again?"
He nodded. "I asked them if a man died and then the woman remarried, and then the three of them met in heaven, would it be a sin for them to have a threesome, since they were all married in God's eye. And they decided they were late to be somewhere else.”

“You will not pass!” Roman thundered.
Great. Now he had decided he was Gandalf.”

“You’re the most experienced investigator I’ve got who’s not tied up in something, and I can’t ask the Consort to look look into it, because A) she and Curran are working on something else and B) when the Consort gets involved, half of the world blows up.”

"I can shoot you right here, on this road, and nobody will ever find your body.” “It’s never a good thing when the black volhv says “Uh-oh” and then runs for his life.”

“I was so happy to be out of there. “Barabas, if you weren’t batting
for the other team, I’d marry you.”
He grinned. “If I weren’t batting for the other team, I would accept your
proposal. You had me at ‘No comment.’ If all my clients were this smart, my
life would be much easier. Much, much easier.”

Overall I fell in love with this book. And I'm glad to see Andrea finally joining a pack and hopefully overcoming some of her childhood traumas. And that she and Raphael got back together. I'm hoping they won't become mushy and boring. If you love Kate Daniels but haven't decided about this series, read it. Trust me, you'll love it.
